The University of Kentucky and Lextran have a free city transit partnership that enables UK students and staff to ride Lextran buses throughout the city free of charge, simply by showing a valid UK ID.
This partnership began July 1, 2015, and was formerly called BluPass. The program is funded by UK Transportation Services as a proactive effort to decrease single occupancy vehicle use, give members of the UK community additional transportation options, and ultimately reduce campus parking demand.
Free city transit complements UK's on-campus transit service and is designed to offer a safe, affordable, and sustainable alternative to driving a car.
