Residential tile

Transportation Services offers a limited number of residential student parking permits. These permits provide on-campus student residents with the highest level of parking convenience and predictability at a higher price point than a traditional student periphery parking permit.

The number of permits issued for designated residential parking areas ensures that permit holders will be able to find a parking space within their assigned lot, garage, or area. This type of permit is ideal for students who regularly rely on their automobile for professional, personal, or academic obligations, or for those who desire more convenient access to their vehicle.

Because of the limited number of spaces in each residential area, it is important that students with residential permits park in their designated residential area and not park in other residential areas; however, they may also park in student periphery lots.

Additional parking options for all residential permit holders are available during off-peak hours.

Purchase Process & Calendar

Most student residential permits may be purchased online, on-site, or over the phone and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Quantities are limited and may sell out quickly.

Some specific permit types -- such as Greek residential permits -- are only available for purchase on-site at our customer service center.

Pre-sale Window for Returning Residential Students: July 8-19, 2024

Permit Sales for All Eligible Residential Students:  July 22 until sold out

Eligibility

Residential permits are restricted to students with confirmed on-campus housing assignments. Access to specific student residential parking areas may be further restricted based on housing location.

Returning residential students with a confirmed housing assignment have priority of purchase during the designated pre-sale window.

Greek Residential Permits (R11, R12, R13, R14, R15, R22)

There are six Greek Residential Permit types that allow members of the Greek communities to park near their fraternity or sorority house, located mainly near the Columbia Avenue and Rose Lane areas. These include R11, R12, R13, R14, R15, and R22 permits.

UK Transportation Services identifies the available parking spaces in this area and then allocates a pro-rated number of spaces to each house based on occupancy numbers received from UK Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL). The chapters provide to FSL the names of those who will be purchasing Greek Residential permits and FSL provides this list to Transportation Services.

Transportation Services then provides purchasing authority to these Greek members. Greek Residential Permits are only available for purchase in office and for one semester at a time, as chapters will occasionally change the list during winter break.
