E-Academic permits are limited to graduate students with positions as graduate assistants, research assistants or teaching assistants, or with fellowships. The positions must be compliant with the University's assistantship policies and must be recognized by the Graduate School. E-Academic permits are limited to students who live off-campus.
These permits are not available for purchase online. In addition, permit holders may or may not be eligible for payroll deduction, depending upon the specific work schedule. Fall permits are typically available for purchase by the second or third week of August (after specific work assignments have been recorded in the UK Human Resources department). If a permit is needed before that time, UK Transportation Services will issue a short-term option.

Authorized Parking Locations
- Areas designated for intermediate E permits
- Areas designated for RK & CK permits and EK areas
- Loading zones (yellow and black striped areas) for a maximum of 15 minutes
- Most employee core areas after 5 p.m.
Parking Privileges and Enforcement Hours
E-Academic permit required: Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Any valid UK permit: Monday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
No permit required: Friday after 3:30 p.m. and all day on Saturday and Sunday
