Commuter periphery (CK) permits provide cost-effective parking for students who park on the campus periphery. This type of permit is ideal for students seeking an affordable alternative to commuter parking within a reasonable distance of housing.
The periphery lots are served by direct shuttle service to the entire campus via the Blue, White, and Yellow bus routes.
CK permit holders are not authorized to park on campus overnight.
Eligibility
Commuter periphery permits are restricted to students who live one mile or more from campus.
Pricing
CK permits are available by the semester or by the academic year:
- 2024-2025 annual price (based on the eight-month academic year): $272
- 2024-2025 fall or spring semester only: $136.
Students who no longer need or desire periphery parking during any portion of the year may choose to return their permit for a pro-rated refund.
CK Parking Locations
Student periphery parking is available in the Kroger Field Blue Lot, as well as the Commonwealth Drive Lot, and College Way West Lot. Student periphery parking does not include the Kroger Field North and South Red Lots, Green Lot, or the Orange Lot.
In addition to authorizing parking in all designated student periphery parking areas, CK permits also authorize the permit holder to park in most employee intermediate parking areas after 3:30 p.m. and in most employee core areas after 5 p.m. However, signage at the entry to parking areas and any additional control signage, curb markings and other parking control devices within these areas take precedence over maps and general campus information.
Parking Privileges and Enforcement Hours
Student periphery parking areas are enforced for permits under the following schedule:
Student periphery permit required: Monday through Friday: 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Any valid UK permit: Monday through Thursday: 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
No permit required: Monday through Thursday after 7:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., and Friday after 3:30 p.m. and all day on Saturday and Sunday
Purchase Process and Calendar
Spring 2025 semester commuter periphery permits go on sale starting Monday, December 9.
Please note that these permits do not sell out; they remain available throughout the year, not just at the start of the fall and spring semesters.
