When it comes to bike rentals, UK students and employees have a lot of options. Whether you need a bike for a year, a semester, or just for a week, Wildcat Wheels can help!
Below is an overview of your on-campus bicycle check-out options, all of which are free for the UK community. Anyone interested in checking out a bicycle must fill out a participant waiver and will be responsible for paying for lost or damaged equipment.
Big Blue Cycles
Big Blue Cycles is a fleet of 150 bicycles available to students living in campus housing who sign a one-year commitment not to bring a car to campus. Participating students are guaranteed the bicycle for an entire academic year. Learn more.
Semester Check Out
Wildcat Wheels has a fleet of 100 bicycles that can be checked out for a full semester at a time. Demand for these bikes often exceeds supply in the fall semester, so the bicycles are awarded through a random lottery (fall only). During the summer and spring semesters, bikes are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Visit the shop during regular hours to check out a bike or email wildcatwheels@gmail.com if you cannot make it during these times.
Applications for this program are now closed.
Weekly Check Out
If you're interested in short-term use, Wildcat Wheels has a fleet of bikes that can be checked out for up to one week at a time. These are available first-come, first-serve during open shop hours.
Bikes for Departments
Departmental Blue Bikes offer employees an opportunity to increase physical activity during regular working hours, reduce traffic on and around campus, and set a positive example to students and the UK community concerning environmental responsibility. Departmental Blue Bikes are available to any UK department to use for up to 16 weeks.
To reserve a Blue Bike for your department, please email wildcatwheels@gmail.com. Please bring a completed Departmental Blue Bike Authorization Form when you pick up the bicycle. Departments are responsible for maintaining a participant waiver for everyone who uses the bike.
