Bicycle Voucher, Big Blue Cycle Applications Now Open

Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is currently accepting applications for the second round of its tremendously successful bike voucher program.  Those who join this program by accepting a voucher for participating local bike shops ($400 total value) must return any current parking permits to PTS and sign a two-year car-free commitment, making them ineligible to purchase a new motor vehicle permit for two full calendar years.

Vouchers are awarded with the goal of removing motor vehicles from campus. To that end, priority will be given to students and employees who have had a vehicle parking permit for the past fiscal year (July 1 - June 30), but those new to the university will also be given consideration.

The application window will close on Thursday, June 30. For details, eligibility information and apply information, visit www.uky.edu/transportation/alternative-transportation_bicycle-voucher.

A similar program aimed at residential students, Big Blue Cycles, is also accepting applications at this time.  Big Blue Cycles is a fleet of more than 150 bicycles available to students living in campus housing who sign a commitment not to bring a car to Lexington; the students chosen for the program are guaranteed the bicycle for the entire academic year.

The application window will close on Friday, July 22. For more details and to apply, visit www.uky.edu/sustainability/1617BBCapp.
