Campus bus routes will transition to full service beginning on Wednesday, August 12, operating from 6:45 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday. Until that date, they’ll continue on a limited summer schedule of 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Please note the following service modifications implemented for the fall semester, which are designed to encourage physical distancing and ensure an efficient and responsive transit system.

Most notably, the White Route will not be in operation this semester. Instead, all available buses (a total of nine during peak times) will operate on the clockwise Blue Route (Lextran Route 14). Running all buses on the Blue Route will reduce passenger wait times during peak periods of demand. This accommodation is being made to support public health best practices as a result of COVID.

The campus Blue Route has the highest level of ridership and provides door-side access to most of the high demand campus destinations, including Memorial Hall, the Main Building, the Gatton Student Center and the W. T. Young Library. Operating transit service in this manner will increase the frequency of buses, ultimately decreasing passenger wait times.

The Green Route and the weekend Yellow Route will operate as normal during the fall semester.

Riders are asked to observe the following requirements on campus buses:

  • Face coverings are required when waiting for, loading, unloading and riding campus transit.
  • Ridership will be at a reduced capacity. All passengers will be required to have a seat; standing will be prohibited.
  • Ground decals and signage at the bus stops and shelters will be used to promote physical distancing and to aid in establishing passenger waiting lines.
  • Passengers should enter and exit the buses through the rear doors only, when buses are equipped with double door systems.
