Employees and students with parking permits authorizing parking in Cornerstone Garage (PS #5) may notice a significant change when arriving or departing the structure.



As part of the recent access and revenue control equipment upgrades within the garage, UK Transportation Services installed license plate recognition (LPR) cameras. These cameras are installed at the entry and exits and read the license plates of vehicles as they arrive to the barrier gates. When a license plate read by the camera matches a license plate associated with an authorized Cornerstone Garage permit holder, the system will automatically grant that vehicle entry/exit without the need to scan the QR code of the back of the physical parking permit.

Although the LPR system will automatically grant access to the structure, you must continue to display your UK parking permit in your vehicle.

If the new automated LPR entry/exit feature isn’t working for you, it’s more than likely because your vehicle information is not accurate in your Transportation Services’ customer account. 



To take advantage of this convenience, please log into your customer account to add and/or update your vehicle information, including your license plate number. You can have more than one vehicle on your account at the same time, but only one vehicle associated with your account can be on campus at any one time.

Follow these simple steps to add a vehicle:

  1. Log in to your customer account
  2. Choose the appropriate link, “UK Students and Employees” and log in using your linkblue ID and password
  3. Click on “Vehicles” at the top of the page and then click on “Add a Vehicle.” Follow the steps to add your plate number, state, make, model, and color of your vehicle. (Please note that license plate numbers must be complete and include any letters before or after the plate number. In some instances, the letters will be stacked. See the below graphic for additional information.)

If your license plate information is correct in your customer file and the LPR system is still not granting you entry/exit, please contact us at transportation@uky.edu. Transportation Services’ technology team is eager to troubleshoot and correct any system shortcomings.
