COVID Vaccination Clinic Parking for Veterans
Veterans from across Kentucky are scheduled to receive their second COVID-19 vaccination at the VA Hospital on Veteran's Drive February 6-8. These veterans are 65 years of age and older and many are unfamiliar with the University of Kentucky's campus.
As acknowledgement of their service, UK Transportation Services is requesting that E25 permit holders park elsewhere on Saturday, February 6, through Monday, February 8. This will enable veterans to use the Veterans Drive Reserved Lot, which is located in close proximity to the VA Hospital where they will receive their vaccination. This lot will provide them with easy access to the hospital, since many of them will have special ambulatory needs, in addition to being unfamiliar with campus.
Please note that this is a one-time request and we do not anticipate there will be a need to replicate it in the future. UK Transportation Services will authorize your E25 permit to allow for parking during this three-day period within the UK HealthCare Garage (PS #8) reserved area, Level two or above in the Kentucky Clinic Garage (PS #3), or in the Sports Center Garage (PS #7). Additionally, E25 permit holders are authorized to park in any employee intermediate (E) or periphery (K or EK) parking area.
The initial dose of COVID-19 vaccine was administered to veterans over the three-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, so special parking accommodations were not necessary during that time, as parking was plentiful and students had not yet returned to campus for the spring semester.
We appreciate your assistance with this request in support of our veterans. If you have special accommodation needs during this period, please contact us to make arrangements.
