Bike Week Events

UK Transportation Services’ annual Bike Week is set for April 21-25, with three events designed to promote cycling, plus chances to win free swag!

Monday, April 21: UK Bike to Campus Day:

Join us from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the intersection of University Drive and Hilltop Avenue, in front of the William T. Young Library for give-aways and more:

  • Play bike trivia to win a free water bottle.
  • Use your pedal power to blend your own fruit smoothie on the smoothie bike. Leave with a color-shifting cup and a refreshing drink.
  • Get your ride tuned up with our Wildcat Wheels Mobile Bike Station.
  • Grab bike-themed stickers and a UK-branded bike bell.
  • Pick up your Bike Week Passport for chance to win a Bike Week water bottle (those who attend two events) or a t-shirt (for attending three events).

Wednesday, April 23: Tour de Downtown Art

Meet us at 5:30 p.m. at the Bowman Statue on north campus, across from Memorial Coliseum, to explore the city’s art scene on two wheels. Take a guided ride downtown with Brian Connors Manke as he shares insight on artwork along the way.

We’ll end the ride at West Sixth Brewery, where riders can socialize with other Bike Week participants. A WiIdcat Wheels employee will host the ride back to campus for students or others who choose to return directly to campus.

Friday, April 25: Campus Bike Tour & Wildcat Wheels Bike Shop Sneak Peak:

We’ll meet at 1 p.m. at the Bowman Statue near the student center, then take a bike tour of campus. One of our first stops will be at Sports Center Garage, home of the new Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Shop! Join us to experience a full campus tour, plus a chance to explore the new, soon to be fully operational, bike shop. The ride will be approximately five miles.

Afterwards, join the Lexington Critical Mass bike ride starting at 6 p.m. Friday. The ride begins at Woodland Park, just off campus. Join community members for a collective celebration of the bicycle, while raising awareness about complete street design and safety issues that affect road users.

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, UK Bike Week is the perfect time to get active, explore the city and campus, and celebrate biking as a fun, sustainable mode of transportation. If you have questions about Bike Week, please contact our office.
