The UK Orthopaedics/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl will take place starting Friday, Dec. 18, at Kroger Field. The games are not expected to have significant impacts on parking, bus schedules or campus traffic, although employees may notice an increase in traffic on Friday afternoon and evening.

Games start at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. No games are scheduled for Sunday. High school football fans are expected to travel from across the Commonwealth to cheer for their teams. However, attendance is likely to be considerably lower than in previous years due to COVID-19.

This will be the fourth year that Kroger Field will be the site of the championship games.

The following parking lots and structures will be available to fans beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday:

  • Kroger Field Red, Blue, Green, Purple and Orange lots
  • C16

The Sports Center Garage (PS #7) will be open to fans on Saturday. There will be no RV parking, tailgating or overnight parking this year.

UK Employees:  UK employees who park near Kroger Field should experience limited, if any, impact to their typical parking routines on Friday morning. However, beginning late morning, employees may notice an increase in parking demand in the Kroger Field lots.

The Class 4A football game will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday. Employees may notice an increase in traffic in the Kroger Field area Friday afternoon, but this is not expected to impact the campus Orange Route.

UK and BCTC Students: UK students should not be affected by the games this year, as the fall semester has already ended. BCTC students who may be affected are authorized to park in the Sports Center Garage (PS #7) on Friday and Saturday. The Green Lot will also remain accessible to valid BCTC permit holders throughout the weekend.
