Light Up the Night with Nov. 13 Ride

As the days get shorter, it’s important to remember to be safe and be seen when riding your bicycle. On Monday, Nov. 13, UK Transportation Services will be leading the first-ever Light Up the Night Ride. Participants are encouraged to deck their bikes out with their brightest lights for this leisurely five mile ride around campus. Transportation Services will be giving out front and rear lights to participating UK students and employees.

Those interested should meet at Wildcat Alumni Plaza at 5:30 p.m. The ride will depart at 6 p.m. and last approximately one hour.

Transportation Services will also be giving away helmets, while supplies last.

We Need Your Feedback on Campus Transportation

Over the past few years, Transportation Services has greatly expanded mobility options for the campus community, with an emphasis on a broad array of choices for those traveling to, from, and around campus.

These efforts – geared toward meeting the needs of transit riders, bicyclists, pedestrians, and those who choose to share rides – include the BluPass partnership, the bike voucher program, Big Blue Cycles, and the “cash out” program for employees who choose to forgo bringing a motor vehicle to campus for one year.

The University – through Transportation Services – is now exploring the development of a program to further encourage alternative modes of getting to, from, and around campus on a daily basis. We are envisioning a “Commute Club,” which would reward dedicated alternative transportation users.

Please take a short survey about your transportation habits to aid in developing the Commute Club framework. The survey will remain open until Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. Survey participants will have the chance to win one of several $20 gift cards valid at the UK Bookstore.
