UK Transportation Services and the University of Kentucky recently signed a new contract with the Lexington-based company, Roberts Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery, that provides for discounted motorist assistance services in addition to supporting campus towing operations.

As a reminder, Transportation Services offers free on-campus battery jump-starts for all UK parking permit holders, campus patients and visitors. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If your car battery dies on campus and you need a jump-start, use the following contact information, also conveniently located on the reverse side of UK parking permits:

Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Call UK Transportation Services @ 859-257-5757

After-hours, weekends & holidays

Call Roberts Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery @ 859-231-0197

UK parking permit holders may also take advantage of additional discounted motorist assistance services anywhere within Fayette County, including vehicle towing, flat-tire change, off-campus battery jump start, vehicle lockout services and out-of-fuel assistance. All of these services are available for $59 if provided within New Circle Road and $59 plus $3.50 per mile if provided outside of New Circle Road.

To take advantage of these discounts, please contact Roberts Heavy Duty Towing and Recovery directly.  To be eligible for the UK discount, the contractor may ask for your valid UK parking permit number prior to providing the service. For your convenience, tow truck drivers accept cash, check, or credit cards at the scene.

In addition to discounted motorist assistance services, Roberts Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery also serves as the University’s towing and vehicle impoundment contractor. In the rare instance that a vehicle must be relocated or impounded due to escalation of parking enforcement or as a result of restricted parking, access or other safety concerns, the towing fee has increased from $100 to $110 in addition to any associated violation fees. Vehicle immobilization (boot release) fees remain unchanged at $60.

If your vehicle is towed or immobilized, all outstanding citations and impoundment fees must be paid by cash, check or credit card before the vehicle will be released. If necessary, proof of ownership may be required.
