Move-In Traffic to Start Next Week

UK will welcome students back to campus next week, with official move-in days set for Monday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 18. As students move into their residence halls for the fall semester, campus parking, traffic and transportation will be impacted.

 

During official move-in days, parking will not be available on the following streets:

• University Drive from Cooper to Hilltop, both northbound and southbound lanes
• Woodland Avenue (also unavailable for parking on Sunday, August 15)
• Sports Center Drive
• Complex Drive from University to the Johnson Center Loop
• Avenue of Champions
• Martin Luther King Boulevard
• Lexington Avenue 

Any vehicles parked in these areas between midnight and 6 p.m. on Monday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 18, will be towed to make way for move-in traffic. One exception is Woodland Avenue, where parking will be unavailable starting on Sunday, August 15, through 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18.

 

Portions of many streets, including Martin Luther King Blvd., Lexington Avenue, Sports Center Drive, Woodland Avenue, Hilltop Avenue, and Huguelet Drive, will become one-way during move-in. Parking Areas for Move-In

North campus move-in parking will be available free-of-charge in Cornerstone Garage (PS #5), located at the corner of South Limestone and Winslow. Overflow parking will be available in the Scott Street area lots. Shuttles will not be provided from these parking locations to the residence halls.

 

Employees who normally park in Cornerstone Garage or Scott Street area lots should expect increased traffic and plan accordingly.

 

Central and south campus move-in parking will be accommodated in the Kroger Field Periphery (K) Red and Blue lots. These lots are temporarily taken off parking control during move-in. Campus White Route buses will run a revised route from the periphery lots to residence hall locations.

 

Employees who park in the Orange Lot (EK) should expect increased traffic in the vicinity.

 

Campus Buses During Move-In

The campus Blue and White buses will be in service during move-in, but bus routes will be altered to accommodate one-way streets and move-in traffic.

 

The Blue Route will remain on the west side of campus by travelling from Kroger Field to South Limestone, turning left onto Winslow Avenue and then circling back to Kroger Field via South Limestone.

 

The White Route will travel from Kroger Field to Hilltop, take a left onto Woodland Avenue, right onto Sports Center Drive, right onto Cooper Drive, then back to Kroger Field via University Drive.

 

Biking During Move-In

Cyclists navigating the area during move-in should consider alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic. See other ways to navigate campus and avoid heavy traffic by using the UK Bike Map. Please note that bike lanes on University and Sports Center drives will not be available during move-in days.
