UK Transportation Services is happy to welcome new -- and returning – students to campus this fall, and our team would like to make the first few weeks of parking as seamless as possible.

Since a large number of UK students park in Periphery (K) lots, we wanted to ensure students are aware of all their Periphery parking options prior to the start of classes. If you have a Periphery (K) parking permit, you may park in the Kroger Field Red and Blue Lots, the Commonwealth Drive Lot, and the new College Way West Lot. All of these parking areas have a Periphery (K) designation, and all have direct access to the campus bus system.

Periphery permit holders may also choose to park in the Wildcat Court lots, but these lots do not have direct campus bus access and require a brief walk to a bus stop on College Way.

To avoid frustration, students are encouraged to allow additional commuting time during the first few weeks of school and be familiar with all of their parking options.

Kroger Field Red & Blue Lots

The Kroger Field Red and Blue Lots are likely the most familiar option for Periphery permit holders, with direct access to the campus Blue and White routes via the Blue Lot bus shelter. In addition, a new bus stop located at the northwest corner of the Red Lot provides more convenient access to the White Route for students parking in the Red Lot.

During the first few weeks of school, the Kroger Field Blue and Red Lots may reach capacity, particularly in the late morning. Commuter student periphery permit holders who arrive after 9:30 a.m. may find it faster and easier to travel directly to east end of the Blue Lot or simply go directly to either the Commonwealth Drive or College Way West lots. Transportation Services staff will be on hand early during the semester to direct students to alternate parking areas, if the need exists.

Commonwealth Drive Lot

The Commonwealth Drive Lot is located near the Greg Page Apartments, just south of the new Kentucky Proud Ballpark on the opposite side of the Alumni Drive roundabout. This 108 space parking area is served by the Green Connector bus route, which will allow students to then connect to the Blue and White routes for wider access to campus.

College Way Lots

New this year, the College Way West Lot is also an option for Periphery permit holders. This 150-space lot is located on College Way and is also served by the Green Connector Route. The 300-space College Way East Lot, located immediately across the street, is an additional option, but students will be required to cross College Way to pick up the Green Route at the Motor Pool bus stop.

Wildcat Court Lots

As noted previously, the Wildcat Court lots are also an option for Periphery permit holders, but students who park in these lots would need to walk to the College Way bus stop to board the Green Connector Route.

Afternoon/Evening (Off-Peak) Options for Periphery Permit Holders

In addition to authorizing parking in all of the areas mentioned above, a Periphery (K) permit also authorizes permit holders to park in most Employee Intermediate (E) parking areas after 3:30 p.m. and in most Employee Core areas after 5 p.m. However, please pay attention to any signage at the entry to parking areas and any additional control signage, curb markings and other parking control devices within these areas before parking, as there are some exceptions.

Please see our Parking Maps page for detailed information about off-peak campus parking areas.

Football Game Day Relocation

Please also note that Periphery (K) permit holders who park in Periphery (K) lots (Red, Blue, Commonwealth Drive, College Way and Wildcat Court lots) are required to move their vehicles before 7 a.m. on the day of home football games. Vehicles may be moved any time after 3:30 p.m. on Fridays and must be moved back by 5 a.m. on Mondays. For a detailed map of restricted football game parking areas and approved relocation areas, view the Game Day Vehicle Relocation Map.

The first home football game this year will take place on Saturday, August 31, so Periphery (K) permit holders will need to relocate their vehicles beginning on Friday, Aug. 30.
