Recommended Bicycle Route During Avenue of Champions Closure

As announced on April 29, underground utility work will require a portion of Avenue of Champions to close for eight weeks this summer.

On Monday, May 16, Avenue of Champions from Lexington Avenue to South Limestone will close. Specifically, the closure is scheduled to last until Monday, July 13 to facilitate underground utility work for the University of Kentucky Student Center renovation and expansion project.

Avenue of Champions from South Limestone to Lexington Avenue will remain open to two-way bicycle traffic, through a combination of an on-street facility and shared sidewalks.

During this time, Patterson Drive will change to two-way traffic for emergency and service vehicles only between Rose Street and Administration Drive; no parking will be permitted to allow for traffic flow. However, the bicycle racks on Patterson Drive will remain accessible throughout the project.
