Renewing Commuter Permit Sales

Commuter (C) permit sales for renewing commuter students will start at noon EST on Wednesday, July 9. This pre-sale window will continue through close of business at 5 pm, on Friday, July 18.

Students who had a C5, C9, C29, C40, or C41 permit last academic year can renew the same permit type for the upcoming academic year during the pre-sale window. For example students who had a C5 permit last spring can only renew a C5 permit.

Please also be aware that this sales window does not include individuals who held a commuter periphery (CK) permit last year. Sales for periphery permit types will start later in this summer.

Items to note:

  • Do not log into the online system before sales begin at noon EST, as the system's queue will not take effect until then, and you may lose your place in line or experience issues when attempting to log back in.
  • Commuter permits cost $336 per academic year and are only available for purchase for a full academic year (eight months).
  • Commuter permits do not authorize permit holders to park overnight on campus without prior authorization from UK Transportation Services.
  • Beginning at noon on Wednesday, July 23, commuter permit sales will begin for all remaining eligible commuter students who have 60 or more credit hours. Sales will continue until permits are sold out.

Commuter Parking Areas

Students who choose to purchase a commuter permit – Scott Street Lots (C9); Cornerstone Garage (C5); South Broadway Lots (C40); South Mill Lot (C41), Mandrell Hall Lot (C29) -- are authorized to park within their designated area or in the commuter periphery (CK) lots.

Commuter permit holders can also take advantage of off-peak campus parking, which authorizes them to park in employee intermediate and core lots after 3:30 p.m.

For more details about commuter permits, visit our commuter permits page.

Students who qualify for and are seeking a less expensive option may consider purchasing a commuter periphery (CK) permit. Commuter periphery (CK) permits cost $272 per academic year or $136 per semester.

Purchasing a Permit

To purchase a permit online, simply log into your customer account using your linkblue ID and password.

Please have the make, model, color, and license plate number of your vehicle available, as vehicle information is required before a permit purchase can be processed. (See graphic below for information about entering your license plate number.)

Permits purchased online can be mailed to your home mailing address or picked up in person at our customer service center, located at 721 Press Avenue. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If you plan to pick up, please allow one full business day for processing. Pre-purchased permits can also be picked up at our exterior express window, which opens at 6:30 a.m. weekdays.

All outstanding parking citations must be paid before a permit purchase may be processed. Citations may be paid online or in our office.

Permit renewal time also offers students a good opportunity to consider other methods of transportation to, from and around campus, rather than single occupancy vehicles. Transportation Services offers several attractive incentives to encourage both employees and students to consider sustainable options, such as biking, busing, walking or ride sharing. For details about these programs, visit the sustainable transportation section of our website.
