2021-2022 student residential (R) parking permits will go on sale starting at noon on Tuesday, June 15, for UK students with a 2021-2022 campus housing assignment. Sales will continue until permits are sold out.

Parking permits are priced based upon proximity and predictability. Most residential permits for the new academic year cost $480, which is the same rate as last year. Residential permits for the Green Lot (R10) cost $320 for the academic year. Permits for Shawneetown and Greg Page Apartments (R19) cost $160. R19 permits go on sale later this summer, starting on Thursday, July 8.

Residential permits are only available for purchase for a full academic year.

Students who choose to purchase a residential permit are required to park within their designated area.

Additional parking permit options are available for residential students who are seeking a less expensive alternative or who do not require or desire regular or proximate access to their vehicle.  Periphery (K) parking is available for purchase by the semester or the full academic year and costs $136 for the fall semester or $272 for the full academic year.  Remote parking is available for $160 for the full academic year.

For more details about residential parking options, including classifications, permit types, and parking area locations, please visit our student residential permits page.

Purchasing a Permit

To purchase a permit online, simply log into your customer account. The appropriate residential parking permit for your housing assignment will appear as an option for purchase. Housing assignments must be finalized before residential permit options can be displayed.

Purchases can also be made in person at our customer service center or over the phone by calling 859-257-5757.

Our customer service center is located at 721 Press Avenue and our regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All outstanding parking citations must be paid before a permit purchase may be processed. Citations may be paid online or over the phone.

For students who choose to park on campus, note that 2021-2022 parking permits will be valid beginning on Saturday, August 14, and must be displayed upon arrival. Residential permits will also be activated for entry and exit from gated parking structures beginning on Saturday, August 14.

Periphery (K) lots temporarily go off control on Saturday, August 14, and return to permit control on Monday, August 23, when classes begin.

Permit renewal time also offers students a good opportunity to consider other methods of transportation to, from and around campus, rather than single occupancy vehicles. Transportation Services offers a number of attractive incentives to encourage both employees and students to consider sustainable options, such as biking, busing, walking or ride sharing.
