Summer Break Transportation Changes
During the summer months, University of Kentucky Transportation Services implements several changes to campus transit and parking operations due to the reduced campus population. Please see below for bus service and parking-related modifications beginning in early May.
Campus Bus Service
The campus Blue, White and Green routes will operate on a modified break schedule of 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning on Monday, May 6 through Tuesday, August 20. The buses will not run on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, or on Independence Day, Thursday, July 4. The weekend Yellow Route will not run again until Saturday, August 24, when it will begin its new Saturday and Sunday schedule.
There will be no changes to the Orange Route (UK HealthCare Route), which will continue to run its normal schedule over summer break. The Orange Route will not run on Memorial Day Monday, May 27, or Independence Day, Thursday, July 4. On both of these holidays, UK HealthCare employees may park in the Kentucky Clinic Garage (PS3) or the UK HealthCare Garage PS #8, per UK policy A10-055.
Kentucky Wildcab does not operate during the summer months.
More information about bus routes, including maps and schedules, can be found on our website. Campus buses can be tracked in real-time using the TransLoc Rider app on iPhone and Android devices.
Summer Parking Control Over the Summer Term
Summer parking control will begin on Monday, May 6. While all lots remain on control throughout the summer term, permit holders will experience flexibility in student parking areas. Most university student parking lots will be controlled for any valid permit (including summer permits) during the summer months. The exceptions are the R2, R7, R17, R18, R29 and R30 parking areas, which will remain on control for their specific permit types.
Employee lots remain on control for designated permits throughout the summer months.
Parking Control Changes in August
Beginning on Saturday, August 3, summer parking restrictions will be lifted and no permit will be required in campus periphery (K) area lots, R19, and remote (X) lots through Sunday, August 25. These lots return to permit control on Monday, Aug. 26, when UK classes begin. The Green Lot will be off control beginning on Saturday, August 3, but will return to permit control on Monday, August 19, the first day of BCTC classes.
Summer parking control maps can be found on our website.
