Thanksgiving Break Parking & Transportation Updates
Thanksgiving break is almost within sight! UK Transportation Services wants to remind students, staff, and faculty that during the break there will be parking and campus bus service changes.
In addition, a home football game is scheduled over the break, so any vehicles that are parked in regular game day relocation areas and being left on campus over break will need to be moved prior to departing. Additional details are below.
Campus Bus Service Changes
On Wednesday, November 23, the Blue and White Routes and the Green Route will operate on a modified schedule, ending at 6 p.m. The Orange Route will operate on its regular schedule.
Campus buses and Kentucky Wildcab service will not be available on Thursday, November 24, through Saturday, November 26.
On Sunday, November 27, the Yellow Route will have extended hours, from 9 a.m. to midnight.
Campus bus service will resume normal operations on Monday, November 28. Wildcab service will resume on Thursday, December 1.
Parking Control Changes
Campus parking lots will not be controlled for parking permits on official University holidays -- Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25. However, all other parking regulations will be enforced (ADA spaces, yellow lines, fire lanes, etc.).
Normal parking permit enforcement will resume on Sunday, November 27.
Football Game Day Relocation
The Wildcats have three remaining home football games, with the third occurring over Thanksgiving break. Regular vehicle relocation practices are in place for the first two games on Saturday, November 12, and Saturday, November 19.
However, permit holders who typically park in game day relocation areas and plan to leave their vehicle on campus over break will be able to move their vehicles earlier than usual for the third and final home game, set for Saturday, November 26. Due to the holiday, permit holders can relocate to authorized areas starting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, but no later than 7 a.m. on Saturday, November 26.
Failure to relocate a vehicle to the designated areas can result in a citation or vehicle impoundment.
Vehicles must be moved back to their authorized parking areas before 5 a.m. on Monday, November 28.
Students and/or employees who regularly park in game day relocation areas and who will be departing from campus prior to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, should call UK Transportation Services at 859-257-5757 or email us to obtain special permission to move their vehicles earlier.
