An annual winter break begins for much of the campus on Monday, December 21, through Sunday, January 3. But due to the nature of its services, UK HealthCare (UKHC) parking and bus transportation remains largely unchanged.

With the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, there are no changes to UK HealthCare policy which restricts employee parking in UK HealthCare patient/visitor parking garages and lots.

With the reduced demand for parking, UKHC employees may, however, take advantage of additional parking options. More specifically, employees may consider parking on the upper floors of the Rose Street Garage (PS #2) and the Sports Center Garage (PS #7) as well as in the Kroger Field Red Lot, with close proximity to the UKHC campus.

Other traditional employee lots will experience reduced demand, allowing UKHC employees to also explore other proximate parking options in and around the UKHC campus.

The Orange Route will continue to operate on a normal schedule from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, albeit at slightly reduced fleet, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day when service will be suspended. The On-Demand Night Bus, however, will not operate December 21 through January 3.

Christmas and New Year’s Day

Employees are authorized to park in the UKHC and Kentucky Clinic parking garages on Christmas and New Year’s Day, but are encouraged to use the Kentucky Clinic Garage (PS #3) rather than the UK HealthCare Garage (PS #8) to ensure adequate parking remains available for patients and visitors.

Additional detailed winter break parking and transportation information may be found at the Transportation Services website.
