Volunteers Needed for Campus Bicycle Count
Volunteers Needed for Campus Bicycle Count
The University of Kentucky Bicycle Advisory Committee is seeking volunteers to collect data for the inaugural campus bicycle count to be held Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Unlike previous bicycle censuses, this count will document bike parking patterns. After completion, this study will validate infrastructure improvements made over the last decade and help identify areas for future improvements.
Since the goal is to count all bicycles parked on campus during one class period, volunteers are needed from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A training session for volunteers will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from to 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in 215 Peterson Service Building.
Participating in the campus bicycle count is a great experience for anyone in the community – a service-learning or research experience for students, service to the University for employees or simply a way for everyday cyclists to give back to the community and improve the future of cycling in Lexington.
The deadline to sign up is Sunday, Oct. 16. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Sandra Broadus at sandra.broadus@uky.edu.
