Traffic impacts along Cooper Drive Between University drive and Garrigus Lot entrance

Cooper Drive construction is affecting traffic, pedestrians and cyclists.

New traffic patterns are in place near University Drive:

  • Westbound traffic on Cooper Drive approaching University Drive has a new lane configuration.
  • The right lane is now right-turn only.
  • The center lane continues straight toward South Limestone.
  • The left-turn lane remains unchanged.

Temporary pedestrian access is available through the work zone.

Cyclists and e-scooter riders must dismount in the temporary pathway.

Allow extra travel time and follow posted signage.

Construction impacts University Drive and Chandler Hospital Expansion

Ongoing traffic impacts

Construction related to the UK HealthCare Chandler Hospital expansion continues to affect travel near University Drive and Hospital Drive. Expect slower traffic and periodic changes to traffic patterns. 

Important change

There is currently no left turn from southbound University Drive onto Cooper Drive because of expansion-related construction. 

Hospital Area Impacts

  • Emergency Department Lot temporarily relocated.
  • Agriculture Lot parking reduced.
  • Pedestrian routes may shift as construction progresses.
  • Two-way traffic on Hospital Drive remains available.
