Hospital Drive: Upcoming Changes in the Area
Project: UK HealthCare Chandler Hospital Expansion & Enabling Projects
Areas Impacted: Hospital Drive, Chandler Emergency Department Lot & Agriculture Lot
Utility work will begin in August that will impact the Chandler Hospital Emergency Department Lot, as well as the Agriculture Lot. Both parking areas are located off South Limestone and Hospital Drive.
Emergency Department Lot
During the first month of this eight-month project, the portico over the emergency department entrance will be dismantled and the emergency department lot will be closed. These parking spaces will be relocated nearby to what is currently called the Agriculture Lot. The Agriculture Lot will become the temporary Emergency Department Lot.
Agriculture Lot
Twelve of the parking spaces currently located in the Agriculture Lot will be moved to a newly developed parking area on the north side of the Agriculture Science Center North building. Six of the 12 spaces will be reserved/departmental spaces, two ADA-accessible, and four employee-intermediate. Approximately 14 employee intermediate spaces in the Agriculture Lot will be lost during this process.
Work will also begin on a temporary parking lot to be located to the south of the Ag Science Center North building. The Ag Loop will also be fenced and is expected to remain closed throughout the project.
Pedestrian pathways in the vicinity will change, but the area will generally remain accessible to pedestrians and motorists. Two-way traffic on Hospital Drive should remain available. However, please exercise caution in the area as traffic and walking patterns will change.
Employees who typically parked in the Agriculture Lot may choose to park in the Kroger Field Gluck Lot, Orange Lot, or the North and South Red lots. From there, they can choose to park and stride or park and ride, taking advantage of the campus bus system.
