The Kentucky high school state football championship games will take place on Friday, December 1, and Saturday, December 2, at Kroger Field.

The games are not expected to have a significant impact on campus parking, as most students and employees will be on-site before football fans begin to arrive. However, campus bus service schedules will likely be impacted by the increase in traffic.

Vehicle relocation for students and employees is not necessary. However, those who have parking permits for the Kroger Field Green Lot (E10, R10 & C10 permit holders) may use Sports Center Garage (PS #7) as a relocation option on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Dec. 1-3) if they would like to do so. Sports Center Garage will be free for students and employees who have C10, R10, or E10 permits on those days. Vehicles must be moved back to the Green Lot by 5 a.m. on Monday, December 4.

The following parking lots and structures will be available to fans beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday:

  • Kroger Field Red, Blue, Green, Purple, and Orange lots
  • University Drive Garage (PS #1)
  • Sports Center Drive Garage (PS #7). Hourly parking rates will apply for visitors

UK Employees

UK employees who park near Kroger Field should experience limited, if any, impact to their typical parking routines on Friday morning. However, beginning late morning, employees may notice an increase in parking demand in the Kroger Field lots, as well as increased traffic in the area.

The Orange Route (UK HealthCare) may experience service delays on Friday due to traffic increases in that area.

Students:

Students should experience minimal impact because of the football games, although -- like employees -- they will notice an increase in traffic in the Kroger Field area on Friday and Saturday and in the Sports Center Drive Garage (PS #7).

Bus service on the campus Blue and White Routes and the Green Route will likely be impacted due to the increased traffic on Friday, with the Yellow Route to be impacted on Saturday.
