KHSAA Football Championship Games Start Friday
Project or Event: KHSAA State Football Championship Games
Areas Impacted: South Campus Lots & Roadways
Kentucky high school state football championship games are set for this Friday and Saturday, December 5-6, at Kroger Field. Game times are noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. both days.
These games should not have a significant impact on parking, as most students and employees will be on-site before football fans begin to arrive. However, campus bus service schedules will likely be impacted by the increase in traffic.
Vehicle relocation for students and employees is not necessary.
The following parking areas will be available to fans starting at 11 a.m. on Friday:
- Kroger Field Red, Blue, & Green Lots
- Commonwealth Drive Lot
- College Way East & West Lots
- Orange Lot
- University Drive Garage (PS #1)
- Sports Center Drive Garage (PS #7) (hourly visitor rates apply)
As in previous years, E10 permit holders may park for free in Sports Center Garage Friday through Sunday as an alternate parking area. Vehicles must be moved back to authorized areas by 5 a.m. on Monday, December 8.
UK Employees
UK employees who park near Kroger Field should experience limited, if any, impact to their typical parking routines on Friday morning. However, beginning late morning, employees may notice an increase in parking demand in the Kroger Field lots, as well as increased traffic in the area.
The Orange Route (UK HealthCare) may experience service delays on Friday due to the traffic increase in that area.
Students:
Students should experience minimal impact due to the football games, although -- like employees -- they will notice an increase in traffic in the Kroger Field area on Friday and Saturday and in Sports Center Drive Garage (PS #7).
The campus Blue, White, and Green Routes will likely be impacted due to the increased traffic on Friday, with the Yellow Route impacted on Saturday. Please anticipate possible delays and plan accordingly.
