New ADA-Accessible Lot now Available

ADA-accessible permit holders now have another parking option on south campus. UK Transportation Services designated a surface lot near Agriculture Science Center North as primarily an ADA-accessible lot, adding 17 parking spaces to the inventory.

In addition to the ADA spaces, this lot also contains two signed spaces for the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (CAFE), three employee intermediate, one service and one loading zone space.

The lot was changed to primarily ADA spaces to offset the upcoming loss of 16 ADA-accessible spaces in the nearby Garrigus Lot. The Garrigus Lot is being impacted by the Chandler Hospital Expansion project, as well as a central utility plant project. It’s unclear when those spaces will become unavailable, but the plan is to eventually close that area to allow for construction activities.

“This lot was changed to primarily ADA-accessible parking to ensure that we continue to provide adequate spaces for individuals who need that access,” said Sarah Nikirk, director of UK Transportation Services. “Our goal is to ensure that our ADA permit holders continue to have viable parking options.”

This new lot is expected to remain available until summer 2027.
