Portions of Farm Road & Veterans Drive to Close Mid-June
Contractors are expected to begin installing fencing in the vicinity of Farm Road and Veterans Drive as early as mid-June. The fencing will be used to delineate the construction area for the new Agriculture Research building for the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
Farm Road will remain accessible from Nicholasville Road to the Small Gluck Equine Center surface lot. The Large Gluck Equine Center surface lot will be accessible through the Orange Lot.
Farm Road will be blocked in the vicinity of Veterans Drive, so thru traffic to University Drive from the west will not be available.
Veterans Drive in this area will also be impacted by the construction fencing, but access to the Plant Sciences and Tobacco Research buildings will be maintained from University Drive.
The Good Barn Visitor Lot and the majority of the Kentucky Tobacco Center Lot will be unavailable beginning in mid-June. Impacted employee intermediate permit holders may park in other nearby areas, including the Gluck Equine Center lots and the Orange Lot.
Please see the attached graphic for suggested pedestrian paths around the construction area.
Organizers have planned a groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility for Friday, June 14. Once the project is complete, the Agricultural Research Building will serve as the college’s central research hub. The 263,000 square foot building will house laboratories, rooftop research greenhouses, classrooms, and office spaces for faculty, graduate students, and staff.
