South Campus Projects to Impact Traffic
Two projects will impact traffic on south campus starting this Friday, March 22.
The first project will take place in the Kroger Field lot and involves the closure of a roadway that connects the Red Lot to the Green Lot, in the vicinity of Gate 4. This roadway will be closed to traffic Friday through Sunday.
Contractors will be pouring concrete to repair that section of the roadway. They expect to reopen it to traffic on Monday morning, March 25. On Friday and during the weekend, the Green Lot can be accessed via the entrance located off Sports Center Drive and College Way.
The second project will take place on University Drive near Cooper Drive, where contractors will begin saw-cutting in the median of the roadway.
This work will impact the northbound turn lane on University Drive, which enables left-hand turns onto Cooper Drive toward South Limestone. The turn lane will be used for staging equipment. Its closure is likely to create some congestion at the University Drive/Cooper Drive intersection.
This work may also impact campus bus routes, so please allow additional travel time. The project is expected to take between one to two weeks, weather permitting.
