During the summer months, UK Transportation Services implements several changes to campus transit and parking operations due to the reduced campus population.

Please see below for details about parking-related modifications and transit changes, for the period beginning Monday, May 8, through Friday, August 11.

Summer Parking Control

Summer parking control begins on Monday, May 8, and will continue through Friday, August 11. While all lots remain on control throughout the summer term, permit holders do have additional flexibility, specifically in student parking areas. Please see our summer parking map for details.

Summer parking permits go on sale on May 1 and will authorize students to park in most student lots, as well as Cornerstone Garage (PS #5), Scott Street area lots, and Sports Center area lots, excluding spaces along Complex Drive, which remain restricted to E7/R7 permits.

Unlike previous years, however, certain floors of Rose Street Garage (PS #2) and Sports Center Garage (PS #7) will not be open to any valid UK permit. Instead, these structures will be restricted to their specific permit types: E2 and R2 for Rose Street Garage, and E7, C7, EC7, and R7 for Sports Center Garage.

Please note that employee lots and structures also remain restricted to designated employee permits throughout the summer. While most of these areas are controlled for those permits from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, many employee-intermediate lots do revert to any valid parking permit during off-peak hours, typically after 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Please pay attention to signage at the entrances to lots and structures.

Like Rose Street Garage and Sports Center Garage, some surface lots also remain on control for specific permit types 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These include: employee reserved lots; the Nutter Center Lot; Memorial Coliseum residential areas (R17 and R18); Complex Drive (E7/R7); the Football Training Center Core Lot (E31); the South Mill Lot (C40); and Seminary area residential lots (R29 and R30).

Metered or paid visitor lots also remain on control over the summer and require payment. Summer parking permits do not authorize users to park at meters or in pay lots without paying the meter.

Please note that even when lots are not controlled for permits, they are still monitored for other parking violations including, but not limited to, parking in fire lanes, parking on yellow lines, and unauthorized parking in ADA-accessible areas.

Campus Bus Service

The campus BlueWhite and Green routes will operate on a limited schedule of 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning on Monday, May 8, through Friday, August 11.

The buses will not be in service on the following holidays: Memorial Day, Monday, May 29; Juneteenth, Monday, June 19; and Independence Day, Tuesday, July 4.

Regular service for these routes will begin on Monday, August 14.

The weekend Yellow Route will not run during the summer session. It’s last day of operation before summer is Sunday, April 30. The Yellow Route will restart on Saturday, August 19, when it begins its regular Saturday and Sunday schedule.

There will be no changes to the Orange Route (UK HealthCare) service, which will continue to operate on its normal schedule over summer break. The Orange Route will not be in operation on Memorial Day, Juneteenth, or Independence Day. On these holidays, UK HealthCare employees are authorized to park in healthcare parking facilities, per UK policy A10-055.

More information about bus routes, including maps and schedules, can be found on our website. If you have questions about parking on campus over the summer, please contact UK Transportation Services.
