Upcoming Events to Impact Parking & Traffic
Events on and near campus through June 5 will result in increased traffic and parking demands. UK parking permit holders should plan accordingly.
Sporting Events
UK was recently named one of the 16 NCAA regional host locations for baseball tournament games. The Lexington Regional will begin this Friday at Kentucky Proud Park.
These games will primarily impact south campus, including the Kroger Field Green Lot, East Blue Lot, Wildcat Court Lots, College Way East and West lots, and the Kentucky Proud Park lots. Please expect additional traffic in the vicinity.
For additional details about the NCAA games, see this page.
In addition, KHSAA state tennis individual games will continue through Thursday, with state tennis team competitions running from June 3-5. State track and field competitions also start this Thursday and will continue through Saturday, June 1.
Primary lots impacted by tennis and track and field competitions include the C16 and Shively lots, as well as the Sports Center employee intermediate lots. Sports Center Garage (PS#7) will require valid UK permits or the visitor pay rate of $2/hour. The Kroger Field Green Lot is designated for bus parking.
Railbird Music Festival
The annual Railbird Music Festival will take place on Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2, at the infield at Red Mile. As a result, permit holders should anticipate additional traffic in the vicinity, as well as parking impacts.
Railbird Festival organizers have arranged to lease the Kroger Field Orange Lot, Red Lot, and West Blue Lot for attendees. Employees and any students remaining on campus over the weekend should avoid parking in those areas. Shuttles will run from Kroger Field to the Red Mile infield.
Festival goers may also take advantage of other lots and structures on campus that are off permit control on weekends. This could include Press Avenue Garage and other lots and structures closest to the festival venue.
