Upcoming Parking & Transit Impact: University Drive
Project: Michael D. Rankin Health Education Building (HEB)
Area Impacted: Southbound University Drive
The Michael D. Rankin MD Health Education Building (HEB) project is expected to be completed by spring 2027, and upcoming work related to this project will soon affect parking and transit on southbound University Drive.
Parking Impacts:
Beginning at 5 p.m. this Friday, March 13, approximately 21 parallel E-intermediate parking spaces on southbound University Drive will be unavailable through October or November.
Transit Impacts:
In addition, the weekday Blue Route bus stop at Huguelet Drive (stop O) will be temporarily relocated, as will that same Yellow Route stop on weekends. The stop will be temporarily moved near the Lyman T. Johnson Hall, on University Drive.
Contractors are expected to install fencing along southbound University Drive starting as early as Monday, March 16. Pedestrian and cyclist access on that side of the road may be temporarily unavailable during staging.
Southbound University Drive traffic will remain open, but motorists and cyclists should exercise caution in the area.
Additional Upcoming Impacts:
Starting later this month, the Health Sciences Research Building (HSRB) Loop will close, and Orange Route buses will alter their route to accommodate this stage of the project. Additional details about Orange Route Service in the vicinity of Chandler Hospital will be announced next week.
