Upcoming Traffic & Bus Route Impact: University Drive
Project: Chandler Hospital Expansion Project
Areas Affected: Southbound University Drive
Utility potholing work associated with the Chandler Hospital Expansion project is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21. Below are details about what to expect:
Saturday, Sept. 20, & Sunday, Sept. 21
The southbound lane of University Drive, including the bike lane, will be temporarily closed from Hospital Drive to Cooper Drive. This work is expected to start at 7 a.m. on Saturday and be completed by Sunday afternoon.
Motorists and cyclists traveling southbound on University Drive can access Cooper Drive by turning left onto Complex, and then right onto Sports Center Drive.
The sidewalk in this area will also be unavailable. Instead, pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the opposite side of University Drive.
Access to University Drive Garage via Hospital Drive will remain available from both lanes. Those exiting the parking structure will be able to turn left onto University Drive.
Southbound Yellow Route buses returning to Kroger Field will detour that weekend by turning left from Woodland Drive onto Sports Center Drive and following that road to Cooper Drive. Several bus stops will be unavailable as a result, including the W.T. Young Library, Huguelet Drive, and Hospital Drive stops. The Woodland Drive stop will also be temporarily moved onto Sports Center Drive, next to Ball Hall.
In addition, four parking spaces along southbound University Drive near Cooling Plant #1 will be unavailable during this time.
Please be aware that this work is weather dependent, so the schedule could change.
