Work projects on campus

Road work planned for next week will impact two campus streets: Columbia Avenue and University Drive. As a result, motorists should anticipate delays in these areas. Campus bus routes will also be impacted.

The first project will take place on Columbia Avenue and include the Rose Street intersection. This roadway is scheduled to be milled and repaved, with work beginning on Tuesday, July 16, and continuing through Thursday, July 18, weather permitting. Contractors plan to keep one lane open, with flaggers on-site to direct traffic. However, there may be intermittent times when the street will be closed completely.

The Blue and White Routes will be impacted as a result of this work. Details about route detours will be shared next week.

A second project involves milling and repaving the outbound lane of University Drive, between Hilltop Avenue and the Hospital Drive intersection. This project is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 19, and could continue into the week of July 22. Flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic.

Cyclists should avoid southbound University Drive during this time, traveling instead on Veterans Drive.

Approximately 35 employee intermediate (E) parking spaces along University Drive will be unavailable during this project. The campus Blue Route and Orange Route may also experience some delays in service due to work in the area. Motorists should avoid this area, if possible, or anticipate delays.

In addition, the Commonwealth Drive lot will be unavailable on Monday and Tuesday, July 15-16, as it will also be milled and repaved. Any vehicles remaining in that area should be relocated prior to Monday.
