Service During Delays, Early Dismissal, or Closure
In the event that the University is operating on a delay, early dismissal, or a delay turned to closure, campus bus service will follow the guidelines listed below:
- The campus Blue and White Routes will continue to run as conditions allow
- The Orange Route will continue to run as conditions allow
- The Green Route will continue to run as conditions allow
- The Yellow Route will continue to run as conditions allow
However, please anticipate possible delays in service due to road conditions or traffic impacts.
Service During Emergencies
Bus service operation during campus emergency events is contingent upon campus conditions. Service may be interrupted due to imminent severe weather, road conditions, or at the direction of emergency officials. Service will resume upon passing of emergency conditions or at the direction of emergency officials.
For example, during tornado warnings, campus bus service will be temporarily suspended and resume once the warning has been lifted. Updates will be provided at uky.edu/alerts.
In the interest of safety for UK bus drivers and passengers, UK buses in service will be directed to the nearest facility and instructed to seek shelter indoors until the emergency condition has passed.
Updates to bus services will be communicated through notifications or in the app on Transit, UK's bus tracking service transitapp.com.
UK Alert
UK Alert, the university’s emergency notification system, is activated in times of university closings, delays, early dismissals due to weather, tornado warnings and other major emergencies on campus that require immediate action.
UK encourages all students, faculty and staff to review and update your UK Alert account. Log in to myUK and click the UK Alert tab to access your account.
