Permit Application Details

Parking permit applications are now being accepted for the Cancer & Advanced Ambulatory Garage (PS #9). These permit applications are limited to employees and will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16.

Overview:

  • Location: Approximately 500 spaces are available on the lower three levels of the garage, offering proximity to the healthcare campus.
  • Rate: Core permits cost $63/month and the fee can be deducted from payroll, similar to other permit types. Core permits provide a predictable parking option, since Transportation Services manages the number of permits issued for designated core parking areas to ensure that core permit holders will be able to find parking within their assigned lot, garage or area, in most instances.
  • Availability: Parking access is expected to begin in December and will continue through the completion of the adjacent Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Center in early 2028.
  • Access: Vehicular and pedestrian access is via Conn Terrace.

Eligibility

Applicants must be employees and must possess a valid UK parking permit.

Successful applicants will be notified by email; our office expects to start the notification process on Monday, Nov. 23.

Individuals who are successful in getting an E9 permit will have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, to pick it up. Permits can be picked up at our office, located at 721 Elizabeth Street. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Important Considerations When Applying:

Until the Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Building is complete, please note the following:

  • No ADA-accessible accommodations or elevator access will be available. However, additional ADA-accessible parking was recently added in the nearby 138 Leader Avenue Lot and the Ag North Temporary Lot.
  • A pedway connection over South Limestone between the Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Building and Chandler Hospital will not be immediately available.
  • Pedestrians needing to cross South Limestone will be asked to cross Conn Terrace at Elizabeth Street, enter the UKHC Hospital Garage (PS #8) and utilize the existing pedestrian bridge to Chandler Hospital Pavilion A to reduce pedestrian-vehicle conflicts at the intersection of Conn Terrace and South Limestone.

Long-Term Parking Expectations:

While not guaranteed, employees selected for E9 parking permit upgrades are expected to remain eligible to park in the Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Building Garage after construction is complete. However, their assigned parking area will likely shift to the upper levels of the garage, to meet the needs of patients  and as as the lower levels will transition to the employee reserved parking tier.

Method of Award:

Permit upgrades will be offered based on several factors: seniority, work location and shift.

  • Primary Consideration: Seniority (length of UK service), as defined by the University’s official regular service date. This is the same date used by the University to determine service awards and retirement eligibility.
  • Additional Considerations: To reduce traffic congestion and pedestrian conflicts on Conn Terrace, South Limestone, and surrounding roadways, additional consideration will be given to employees who work on the west side of South Limestone and to those whose shifts begin and end during off-peak commuting periods.
  • Waitlist: If more employees apply for this permit upgrade than spaces are available, this prioritization list will form the basis for a subsequent waitlist.
