Parking is generally more plentiful on campus in the summer, with additional options available for any valid UK permit. This year, summer parking enforcement will begin on Monday, May 13, and continue through Friday, August 9.

A valid UK parking permit is required when parking on campus during the summer.

Students who plan to remain on campus can purchase a summer permit, which authorizes them to park in most student lots, as well as Cornerstone Garage (PS #5), the Scott Street area lots, and the Sports Center area lots. These permits are available at our office, located at 721 Press Avenue, beginning May 6. (See this story for more details.)

The top two floors only of Hilltop Avenue Garage (PS #2) – levels 3 and 4 -- will also be open to individuals with any valid UK permit. This includes summer permits and other employee permit types. Levels one and two of Hilltop Avenue Garage will remain restricted to individuals with E2 or R2 permits.

Employee lots remain restricted to designated employee permits throughout the summer. Summer permits are not valid in employee lots until off-peak hours.

Some lots and structures remain on control for specific permit types 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so please pay attention to signage at the entrances to lots and structures.

Metered or paid visitor lots also remain on control over the summer and require payment.

Please be aware that even when lots are not controlled for permits, they are still monitored for other parking violations including, but not limited to, parking in fire lanes, parking on yellow lines, and unauthorized parking in ADA-accessible areas.

Campus Transit Changes

Some campus buses run limited hours during the summer. The campus Blue and White routes will begin a limited schedule of 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting on Monday, May 6. The Green Route will also run 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the summer.

The weekend Yellow Route is not in service during the summer. It’s last day of operation was Sunday, April 28; it will resume service prior to the start of the fall semester.

There will be no changes to the Orange Route (UK HealthCare) bus service, which will continue to operate on its normal schedule.

Like the other routes, the Orange Route will not be in operation on Memorial Day, Juneteenth, or Independence Day. On these holidays, UK HealthCare employees are authorized to park in healthcare parking facilities, per UK policy A10-055.

More information about bus routes, including a summer parking map, can be found on our website. If you have questions, please contact UK Transportation Services or call 859-257-5757.
