Winslow Street to Temporarily Close Early Next Week

Winslow Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Tuesday, April 14, and Wednesday, April 15, as contractors dismantle a tower crane in that area. This work is part of the South Limestone Garage (PS #5) expansion construction project, which will add approximately 900 additional parking spaces, plus retail and university innovation areas to the structure. The project is expected to be complete in August. Commuters should anticipate some traffic impacts in this area and allow additional travel time.

Service Temporarily Suspended on Some Campus Bus Routes

Beginning Tuesday, April 7, the bi-directional campus Blue and White Routes (Route 14), and the Green Route will be suspended through the remainder of the spring session and the summer school session. The Orange Route (UK HealthCare) will continue to operate during this period. The weekend Yellow Route is also not running at this time. These changes were made as a result of significantly decreased ridership during the coronavirus (COVID-19) event and the University’s subsequent move to online classes.

Student Parking Permit Credit Application Now Available

Students who have parking permits for the 2019-20 academic year or the spring 2020 semester and no longer need access to campus may apply to receive a prorated credit.

COVID-19 Response: Employee Permit Returns

We have received a number of questions, understandably, regarding the status of parking permits, given the remote work status of much of our campus community during this public health crisis. While employees always have the option to turn in their parking permits, and discontinue further payments, we wanted to provide some background and guidance about the challenges associated with that move as we continue to navigate evolving status of work-life in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Complex Drive to Temporarily Close on Monday

Complex Drive is scheduled to temporarily close to traffic and parking on Monday, March 30, through Friday, June 19. This street closure will enable contractors to install sewer manholes and piping near the Seaton Center and the Lancaster Aquatics Center. Core and residential (E7/R7) permit holders who typically park along Complex Drive will also be impacted. Those affected may park in the Sports Center Garage (PS #7) during this time.

Spring 2020 Interim Parking Modifications & Customer Service

In an effort to assist UK students and employees as they navigate far-reaching changes to their school and work routines, UK Transportation Services has prepared the following information to clarify campus parking control and office hours during this period.

Spring 2020 Interim Campus Transit Service

Campus transit services have been adjusted as a result of the University’s response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the subsequent modifications to campus operations and academic instruction. Please see below for details. Campus Bus Services Orange Route – UK HealthCare Shuttle: The Orange Route will continue to follow its normal operating schedule, 5 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday. In addition, the On-Demand Shuttle will be available on its regular schedule, from midnight to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library is Closed for the Semester

The Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library will be closed for the remainder of the academic semester in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, campus do-it-yourself stations will continue to be maintained. Students who checked out a bicycle from Wildcat Wheels this semester and are leaving campus residence halls should return the bike to the shop. Lock it at the bike racks located outside Wildcat Wheels and place the bike lock key in the key-drop box, located on the exterior door.

Campus Transit Sanitation Efforts in Response to COVID-19

Daily cleaning and disinfecting are an integral part of the regular responsibilities of the transit providers operating on the University of Kentucky campus.  However, these operators, including UK Transportation Services, Lextran and Republic Parking, have implemented enhanced cleaning protocols, in an effort to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Transportation-Related Changes Over Spring Break

With the onset of spring break, UK Transportation Services will adjust parking and transportation-related services to reflect the needs of the reduced campus population. Decisions regarding service levels during the subsequent two-week suspension of in-person instruction following spring break (Sunday, March 22, through Sunday, April 5) will be communicated in the coming days.
