Regular Parking Control Begins Monday

Summer parking control will end this Friday, August 15, with campus lots and structures returning to regular permit control beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, August 18.In particular, please note the following:

Big Blue Move In Starts Sunday

The University of Kentucky will welcome new Wildcats to campus Aug. 17-20, as more than 6,000 students move into their residence halls. Please anticipate impacts to parking, traffic and transportation during this time.In particular, the following areas will be “No Parking” zones, in effect from 12:01 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 17-20: 

Traffic Advisory: Press & Virginia Avenues

Project:  UK HealthCare Hospital Garage ExpansionAreas Affected:  Press & Transcript Avenues The campus community will notice a change in traffic patterns in the vicinity of the UK HealthCare Hospital Garage, starting today. Below are details:

Parking Advisory: Memorial Coliseum Lot

Area Affected:  Memorial Coliseum LotProject:  Repaving & RestripingDue to rainy conditions, which have delayed the painting process in the Memorial Coliseum Lot, it's possible that this lot may not reopen on Monday morning, August 11. Contractors are attempting to complete the work as quickly as possible, but this project is weather dependent.

Upcoming Closure: Washington Avenue

Contractors are scheduled to install a communications duct bank on Washington Avenue this Saturday, August 9. This will require temporary closure of the roadway from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Please be aware that this work is weather dependent. If the project cannot be completed by Saturday evening, they will continue the work on Sunday, August 10. If it cannot be completed this weekend, the contractors will install a steel plate over the work area to allow one lane of traffic to travel that roadway until the work can be completed.

Upcoming Parking Impact: Columbia Avenue Lots

Contractors are scheduled to seal and repaint the Columbia Avenue East Lot this weekend, which will require the lot to be closed on Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10. This closure will impact approximately 142 employee intermediate parking spaces, plus six ADA-accessible spaces. In addition, seven parking spaces in the Columbia Avenue West Lot will  be sealed and repainted at the same time. The lots are expected to reopen on Monday, August 11. However, please be aware that this work is weather dependent.

Upcoming Impact on Transcript Avenue

Contractors are scheduled to mill and repave a section of Transcript Avenue starting this Thursday, July 31.  This work is scheduled to be done overnight to minimize the impact to patients, patient visitors, and permit holders. Work will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday and continue through midnight. Flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic as needed.  Please be aware that this project is weather dependent, so the timeline could change.

Portion of Cooper Drive to Close Temporarily

Contractors are scheduled to remove the pedestrian bridge over Cooper Drive early next week. This work will necessitate closure of a portion of Cooper Drive, from South Limestone to University Drive. Work is scheduled to take place overnight to minimize the impact to motorists. Closure will begin at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, until  6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30. However, please be aware that this work is weather dependent.

Tree Removal to Impact Parking

Contractors are scheduled to remove a tree located in the center of the Ag Science Loop on Tuesday, July 29. This work will require closure of several parking spaces in that area. A travel lane will be maintained throughout the loop to allow access to reserved spaces.  This work is expected to be completed in one day and impacted parking spaces should reopen on Wednesday, July 30. However, please be aware that this project is weather dependent. 

Memorial Coliseum Lot to be Repaved

Contractors are scheduled to mill, repave, and restripe the Memorial Coliseum Lot starting in early August. This will require a temporary lot closure. The Memorial Coliseum Lot has approximately 480 spaces, including employee intermediate, ADA-accessible, metered visitor spaces, and loading and service spaces. Employees should make plans to relocate their vehicles from this lot prior to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 1, in preparation for this work to start on Monday, August 4.
