Campus Bike Rack Improvements in Progress In preparation for the start of fall semester, University of Kentucky Transportation Services is improving bicycle parking at various campus locations by updating the style of rack. During this work, some bike racks may be temporarily relocated and/or out of service. Members of the campus community who have bikes parked at any of the racks listed below should move them no later than Monday, August 7.

Volunteers Needed for Campus Bicycle Count University of Kentucky Transportation Services and the UK Bicycle Advisory Committee are seeking volunteers to collect data for the second annual campus bicycle count to be held Wednesday, Sept. 20. This count will document bike parking patterns. After completion, this study will validate infrastructure improvements made over the last decade and help identify areas for future improvements.

Light Up the Night with Nov. 13 Ride As the days get shorter, it’s important to remember to be safe and be seen when riding your bicycle. On Monday, Nov. 13, UK Transportation Services will be leading the first-ever Light Up the Night Ride. Participants are encouraged to deck their bikes out with their brightest lights for this leisurely five mile ride around campus. Transportation Services will be giving out front and rear lights to participating UK students and employees.

Transportation Services Offers Holiday Bike Storage For the first time, University of Kentucky Transportation Services is offering an option for students and employees to store their bicycles out of the elements during the semester break. This program is open all members of the campus community, including Big Blue Cycles participants.

Request a Spring Semester Wildcat Wheels Bike Applications are now open for Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library spring semester bicycles. Wildcat Wheels has a fleet of 100 bicycles that can be checked out for a full semester at a time; the service is free for members of the campus community.

Winter Bike to Campus Day Set for Feb. 7 Riding a bicycle is a growing mode of getting to, from, and around campus for students and employees alike, and for many, cold weather doesn’t deter their bike commute. On Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the Funkhouser Plaza, UK Transportation Services is celebrating these all-weather cyclists with the second annual Winter Bike to Campus Day. The event is also presented by the UK Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Big Blue Cycles Registration Now Open For 2018; Spring Cleaning Bike Clinic Tomorrow

Big Blue Cycles Registration Now Open For 2018 The application for the Big Blue Cycles fleet is now open for the 2018-2019 academic year. The fleet of 150 bicycles is available exclusively to students living in campus housing who sign a commitment not to bring a car to Lexington. Students selected for the program will have the use of the bicycle for the entire academic year.
