Donations for Citations Drive Starts Monday, Feb. 28

Donations for Citations, a popular program that helps stock the shelves at UK’s Big Blue Pantry, will take place this year beginning on Monday, February 28, through Friday, March 11. UK students and employees who have a parking citation can pay their fee during this two-week period by donating food or personal care items to Big Blue Pantry (BBP). Participating is easy! Simply bring your donations to our customer care center, located at 721 Press Avenue, to settle your citation. Our customer care center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Are You Traveling Over Spring Break?

UK Transportation Services is once again offering free rides to regional airports for spring break. Students, faculty, and staff can take advantage of free rides to and from Kroger Field to Blue Grass Airport (LEX), Louisville International Airport (SDF) and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). This service is offered in partnership with the Student Transportation Council.

KHSAA Swimming & Diving Championship to Impact South Campus

KHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championship events will take place at the Lancaster Aquatic Center starting Thursday, Feb. 17, through Saturday, Feb. 19. Event organizers expect as many as 800 attendees. Most spectators will park in the Sports Center Garage (PS #7), and Sports Center Drive area lots will be available for attendees after 1 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. University Drive Garage (PS #1) will also be available for spectator parking on Saturday, Feb. 19. Team buses will be parked in the Green Lot.

Hospital Drive to Reopen on Monday

Hospital Drive is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, February 14. A portion of the roadway located between University and Veterans drives has been closed for approximately two weeks, since late January. The roadway will continue to experience periodic closures through May as contractors work to replace cooling towers and the support structure on Cooling Plant #1. The roadway is expected to be open for several weeks at a time between closures.

Winter Bike to Campus Day is Wednesday, Feb. 9

Cold weather is no excuse to give up on cycling to campus, whether you dig winter vibes or shiver all season. Each year, UK Transportation Services recognizes cyclists who brave the winter weather to cycle year-round during Winter Bike to Campus Day. This year’s event will be held from 7:30am to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Stop by our tent at the Mining and Minerals Research Building Plaza to celebrate any-weather cycling as an effective and efficient mode of transportation.

Portion of Hospital Drive to Close Temporarily

A portion of Hospital Drive located between University and Veterans drives will experience periodic road closures through May to facilitate construction on Cooling Plant #1.

Farm Road to Temporarily Close to Thru Traffic

Farm Road will close to thru traffic beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, through Friday, Jan. 28, for work associated with an electrical upgrade project.   Employee and visitor parking areas adjacent to the Kentucky Tobacco Research and Development Center, the Orange Lot, the E.S. Goodbarn Visitor Lot, and the large and small Gluck Equine Center lots will remain accessible from University Drive. The pedestrian crossing from the large Gluck Lot across Cooper Drive will also remain accessible.

Winter Break Brings Changes to Parking, Transportation

The upcoming winter break will impact campus parking control and bus services, both of which change significantly during breaks.   This year, the winter academic break begins on Saturday, Dec. 18, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022. Green Route Service Hours to Change

Beginning Monday, Jan. 10, the campus Green Route will have new hours of service. Service will remain unchanged from 6:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 10 p.m., riders will now be able to request On Demand Service for transportation to and from the West Blue Lot Shelter at Kroger Field and their residence in Greg Page or Shawneetown.

Free Covered Parking Available Over Winter Break

Keep your wheels under cover this winter! UK Transportation Services is offering free, covered storage for cars and bicycles on a first-come, first-served basis. Students with a valid UK parking permit who wish to move their vehicles to Cornerstone Garage (PS #5) -- a covered parking structure – for the duration of winter break should stop by our office to pick up a free holiday parking pass.
