Do you need help discovering the best way to get to, from, and around the University of Kentucky’s campus? UK Transportation Services staff can assist you with customizing your commute…for free!   Our department offers commute planning services designed to help you make the most convenient and accessible commuting choices. These personalized plans are tailored to your specific situation, whether you drive a personal vehicle, rideshare with others, take the bus, bike, walk, or a combination of commuting methods.  

Campus Buses 101: Everything You Need to Know

The first few days of a new semester can be challenging. How do you navigate a campus that you may not be familiar with, and arrive at class on time? One easy answer is to take advantage of free campus buses. The University of Kentucky, in partnership with the Lexington Transit Authority (Lextran), operates several on-campus bus routes designed to make it easy for students, staff, faculty, and visitors to quickly access the entire campus. It’s free to ride, and you’re not required to show your Wildcat ID on campus routes. Just hop aboard at any bus stop or shelter.

Get Geared Up for Pedalpalooza 2023!

Do you love bikes? Or are you just interested in learning more about riding on campus? Make plans now to attend Pedalpalooza, UK Transportation Services’ annual K Week event dedicated to the love of bikes. Meet other student cyclists in a fun environment and complete three on-site bike challenges to be entered into a drawing to win an Apple Watch. Pedalpalooza is scheduled for Friday, August 18, from 1-3 p.m. in the Gatton Student Center parking lot. The event is free for all.

Big Blue Move-In Starts Sunday, August 13

The University of Kentucky will welcome new Wildcats to campus, starting Sunday, August 13, through Wednesday, August 16, as students move into their residence halls. Please anticipate impacts to parking, traffic, and transportation during this time. In particular, the following areas will be “No Parking” zones, in effect from 12:01 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 13, through Wednesday, August 16:

UK Parking MobilePay: Pay Fast on Your Phone!

UK Transportation Services is making it even easier to pay fast on your phone using UK Parking MobilePay at meters and in visitor pay lots throughout campus. UK Parking MobilePay replaces ParkMobile as the method to quickly pay for hourly parking. This new text to pay service is easy to use and doesn’t require users to download an app or create an account. Additionally, Transportation Services has eliminated the $0.35 convenience fee previously required when using ParkMobile. Users now only pay the hourly rate without additional burdensome fees.

Tennis Tournament to Impact Parking, Traffic on South Campus

The 2023 Lexington Challenger Tennis Tournament will take place Monday, July 31, through Sunday, August 6, at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex. Please anticipate impacts to parking and traffic on south campus during this time.  

Student Periphery, Remote, and Off-Peak Parking Permit Sales Start Wednesday, July 19

Student Periphery (RK & CK), Remote (X), and Off-Peak (O) permits will go on sale on Wednesday, July 19. Permits are available for purchase online or by visiting the Transportation Services’ Customer Service Center, located at 721 Press Avenue.

Landscaping Project to Impact Parking on Complex Dr. July 17- July 21

Parking spaces (E7/R7) located on Complex Dr. will be impacted Monday, July 17- Friday, July 21. UK Facilities will be conducting a landscaping project that consists of pruning oak trees located along these parking spaces. Impacted areas are located closest to the University Flats and The Lancaster Aquatics building. Parking spaces will become available as landscaping works through the area during the week.   E7/R7 permit holders can park in parking spots located down Complex Dr. which will be unaffected by the landscaping project.

Student Commuter Permit Sales for all Eligible Students Begin July 19

Commuter (C) permit sales for new students – those who did not have a commuter parking permit last academic year – will go on sale at noon on Wednesday, July 19, and will continue until sold out.

Student Residential Parking Permit Sales for All Eligible Students Start July 18

2023-2024 Student Residential (R) parking permits for new students and those eligible, will begin at noon on Tuesday, July 18, and continue until permits are sold out. Parking permits are priced based on proximity and predictability. Most residential permits for the new academic year cost $504. Residential permits for the Green Lot (R10) cost $336 for the academic year. These permits are only available for purchase for a full academic year. Permits for Shawneetown and Greg Page Apartments (R19) cost $252 annually and went on sale on Wednesday, May 24.
