Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library is Closed for the Semester

The Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library will be closed for the remainder of the academic semester in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, campus do-it-yourself stations will continue to be maintained. Students who checked out a bicycle from Wildcat Wheels this semester and are leaving campus residence halls should return the bike to the shop. Lock it at the bike racks located outside Wildcat Wheels and place the bike lock key in the key-drop box, located on the exterior door.

Campus Transit Sanitation Efforts in Response to COVID-19

Daily cleaning and disinfecting are an integral part of the regular responsibilities of the transit providers operating on the University of Kentucky campus.  However, these operators, including UK Transportation Services, Lextran and Republic Parking, have implemented enhanced cleaning protocols, in an effort to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). 

Transportation-Related Changes Over Spring Break

With the onset of spring break, UK Transportation Services will adjust parking and transportation-related services to reflect the needs of the reduced campus population. Decisions regarding service levels during the subsequent two-week suspension of in-person instruction following spring break (Sunday, March 22, through Sunday, April 5) will be communicated in the coming days.

Upcoming Traffic Changes on Bolivar Street

Bolivar Street will be one way from Plunkett Street toward Oliver Lewis Way and South Broadway from March 23-27 to facilitate sanitary sewer work. Commuters traveling from Oliver Lewis Way and South Broadway can use Cedar Street as a detour to South Upper Street.

NCAA Rifle Championship to Impact Parking on North Campus

The University of Kentucky will host the National Collegiate Rifle Championship in Memorial Coliseum this weekend. UK students and employees who park on north campus should plan for parking-related impacts Wednesday, March 11, through Saturday, March 14.   Forty-six (46) spaces in the College View Lot (E-Intermediate) will be reserved during this time. UK employees will likely see the largest impact on Friday, March 13, when visitors attend the rifle competition. This could impact availability in the South Limestone Garage (PS #5).

Project to Impact Avenue of Champions, Bus Routes

The sanitary sewer replacement project underway by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is advancing further into the University of Kentucky campus starting Monday, March 9, when a portion of Avenue of Champions will be reduced to one lane. The project will also require closing South Upper at Winslow for the weekend that begins Friday, March 13.

Merit Weekend to Impact Parking on North Campus

University of Kentucky students and employees who park on north campus should plan for parking-related impacts on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7. Merit Weekend and UK Visitor Center tours are expected to bring approximately 500 families to campus this weekend. UK employees may notice an increase in visitor parking in the South Limestone Garage (PS #5) during these dates. Impacted university employees may choose to park in any other employee intermediate or periphery lot. In the north campus area, these include:

Events to Impact North Campus Parking, Feb. 26, 27

Events scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Gatton Student Center will bring attendees to north campus and impact parking availability on those days. The UK Food Connection is hosting the Kentucky Local Food Systems Summit on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Approximately 200 people are expected for this event, which is being held in partnership with Bluegrass Farm to Table and Kentucky Proud.

Donations for Citations 2020 Starts Monday, March 2

UK students and employees who have a parking citation can pay their fee by donating food or personal care items during UK Transportation Services’ Fifth Annual Donations for Citations drive. Donations for Citations starts on Monday, March 2, and runs through Friday, March 13. All donations will benefit UK’s Big Blue Pantry, an on-campus organization that works to combat hunger and food insecurity for UK students.

Career Fairs to Impact North Campus Parking, Feb. 11-12

Two career fairs will take place next week in the Gatton Student Center. These events are expected to bring approximately 200 prospective employers to north campus and will impact parking availability on Tuesday, Feb. 11, and Wednesday, Feb. 12. The Engineering, Computer Science and STEM Career Fair will take place on Tuesday, followed by the Business, Communications, Liberal Arts and Humanities Career Fair on Wednesday.
