Ride Amigos now Available for UK Students & Employees

Free access to trip planning resources is now available to University of Kentucky students and employees as the result of a partnership between UK Transportation Services and Ride Amigos. Ride Amigos is a cloud-based commuter software program that allows users to easily find others who are travelling in the same area and could potentially share rides.

South Limestone Lane Closures to Begin Next Week

South Limestone will be reduced to two lanes just south of Winslow and Avenue of Champions beginning next week, to allow for the installation of an underground electrical distribution duct bank. The lane closures will float and are expected to be in effect for two weeks, depending upon weather conditions. Two lanes will be kept open at all times, with work scheduled to take place daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The lanes will be plated and reopened after 3 p.m.

Shared Use e-Scooters are Arriving in Lexington

The City of Lexington recently approved permits for shared use bicycle and e-scooter companies to operate within city limits, which means that these vehicles will begin showing up on UK’s campus.   UK will choose one of the city’s approved shared mobility companies as its preferred partner soon after the launch. However, bikes and e-scooters from each approved company are allowed to be ridden onto UK’s campus, provided the company is in good standing with the university.  

Event to Impact Parking in the Periphery (K) Lot at Kroger Field

The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday, Oct. 17, and Friday, Oct. 18, in the Woodford Reserve Club at Kroger Field. A total of 100 periphery (K) parking spaces will be reserved for attendees on Thursday and 50 will be reserved on Friday. Calling all Cyclists: Let's Get Flashy on Friday!

Ever thought about participating in a flash mob? This is your opportunity. University of Kentucky Transportation Services is celebrating the 15-year anniversary of Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library (WWBL) with a cyclist flash mob. Just show up at the Rose Street Plaza, between Huguelet and Funkhouser drives, at noon on Friday, Oct. 18. Bring your bicycle and get ready to smile for the drone.

Events to Impact Parking on North Campus, Oct. 15-18

Several events planned for Oct. 15-18 will impact parking availability on campus. Please see below for dates and event details, affected lots and alternative parking suggestions.   Tuesday, Oct. 15: Singletary Center Lot on Patterson Drive The second televised debate for the office of governor of Kentucky will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Singletary Center for the Arts. As a result, 29 employee intermediate parking spaces in the Singletary Lot will be reserved for attendees.

Winslow Street to Temporarily Close Starting Monday

Winslow Street will temporarily close to traffic beginning on Monday, Oct. 14, to allow for the installation of an underground electrical distribution duct bank. The road is expected to be closed through Sunday, Oct. 27.

Orange Lot Parking Capacity Contingency Plan Update

Effective immediately, the Orange Route will begin providing bus service to the College Way contingency parking area on a set schedule. The Orange Route extension will operate on Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as during the same time period on the Fridays before home football games.

Event to Impact Parking in Blue Lot at Kroger Field

The University of Kentucky President's Office and University Relations are hosting an event on Monday, Oct. 7, that will impact parking in the Periphery (K) Blue Lot at Kroger Field. The event is for the Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) grant, the largest grant ever awarded to UK. It will require that 150 parking spaces on the east end of the Blue Lot be reserved for attendees. Impacted Periphery permit holders should consider all of their parking options that morning, which include the following:

Construction Impacting Traffic Lanes on South Upper Street

Electrical work associated with burying the overhead Kentucky Utility lines on Winslow Street, adjacent to the South Limestone Garage (PS #5) expansion project, will result in traffic impacts over the two weeks. One lane of South Upper Street between Bolivar and Winslow will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday through approximately Friday, Oct. 4, to install an underground electrical duct bank. The overhead electrical lines are being relocated underground as part of the expansion project.
