Campus Area Road Closures to Start Wednesday

Several road closures are coming to the UK campus area over the next few weeks to accommodate the installation of a new sanitary sewer line. The first closure will be Bolivar Street between Mill and Upper streets, beginning on Wednesday, April 29. On Monday, May 4, the intersection of Rose Street and Avenue of Champions will be closed for an estimated five days. That work will be immediately followed by block-by-block closures of Avenue of Champions. Starting Thursday, May 7, Upper Street will be closed from Winslow to Bolivar.

Power Outage Scheduled for South Limestone Garage

An electrical power outage is scheduled for the South Limestone Garage (PS #5) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29. This planned outage is associated with the expansion project and will enable contractors to connect new electrical service to the structure. Gates to the garage will be up that day and while the structure should have ample natural light for parking purposes, the elevators will not be in operation during this time.

Rose Street to be Impacted by Sewer Project Starting April 20

Rose Street will be closed from Avenue of Champions to Rose Lane beginning April 20, to facilitate sanitary sewer construction.  Commuters on Rose Street coming from campus toward Euclid should use Rose Lane to Linden Walk to access Euclid. Limited access to the Singletary Center via Rose Street coming from campus will be maintained during the closure.

Winslow Street to Temporarily Close Early Next Week

Winslow Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Tuesday, April 14, and Wednesday, April 15, as contractors dismantle a tower crane in that area. This work is part of the South Limestone Garage (PS #5) expansion construction project, which will add approximately 900 additional parking spaces, plus retail and university innovation areas to the structure. The project is expected to be complete in August. Commuters should anticipate some traffic impacts in this area and allow additional travel time.

Service Temporarily Suspended on Some Campus Bus Routes

Beginning Tuesday, April 7, the bi-directional campus Blue and White Routes (Route 14), and the Green Route will be suspended through the remainder of the spring session and the summer school session. The Orange Route (UK HealthCare) will continue to operate during this period. The weekend Yellow Route is also not running at this time. These changes were made as a result of significantly decreased ridership during the coronavirus (COVID-19) event and the University’s subsequent move to online classes.
