Wildcat Wheels has a fleet of 100 bicycles that can be checked out for a full semester at a time; the service is free for members of the campus community. Since demand for these bikes often exceeds supply, the bikes are awarded through a random lottery.

Winter Bike to Campus Day Celebrates Cyclists For many, cold weather doesn’t mean the end of getting to, from and around campus on two wheels. On Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. on the Funkhouser Lawn, bike commuters will be recognized at the first Winter Bike to Campus Day, presented by University of Kentucky Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) and the UK Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Portion of Alumni Drive Shared Use Path Temporarily Closing March 16 A small segment of the Alumni Drive shared use path will temporarily close due to construction work on Thursday, March 16. This construction is in support of the baseball stadium relocation project. During the project, cyclists and pedestrians may access the bike lane adjacent to the closed portion of the path via a temporary path. The path closure is expected to last no more than a week. However, as always, construction is weather-dependent and the timetable may change.

Big Blue Cycles Registration Now Open For 2017-2018 The application for the Big Blue Cycles fleet is now open for the 2017-2018 academic year. The fleet of more than 150 bicycles is available exclusively to students living in campus housing who sign a commitment not to bring a car to Lexington. Students selected for the program will have the use of the bicycle for the entire academic year.

Applications Now Open for 2017 Bike Voucher Program

Applications Now Open for 2017 Bike Voucher Program Transportation Services is now accepting applications for the 2017 edition of bicycle voucher program today, Monday, April 10. The program is designed to encourage employees and students to consider alternatives to driving a vehicle to campus by offering 100 qualified applicants each $400 in vouchers valid at any of the five participating local bike shops in exchange for agreeing not to purchase a motor vehicle permit for two years. The application window will close Friday, June 30.

The eighth annual Lexington Bike Challenge is a fun and free incentive-based cycling initiative presented by the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Downtown Lexington Corporation and Love to Ride.
