Need a Parking Permit? Contact UK Transportation Services

While it may initially seem like a good idea to purchase a UK parking permit from a friend or online through a message board, please note that such activity is unauthorized under university regulations. UK parking permits are registered to the individual and can’t be transferred or resold. Valid parking permits are only available from UK Transportation Services, where they are assigned to the individual’s account.

University and campus safety officials are taking steps to reinforce the importance of remaining vigilant when driving or walking on area streets. 

Martin Luther King Jr Event to Impact Parking on Tuesday

A 50th anniversary celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will take place 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, at the Singletary Center for the Arts. As a result, permit holders should anticipate parking impacts on north campus starting early Tuesday morning.   In particular, the following lots will be unavailable until approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday:

Additional Parking Now Available Near the School of Art & Visual Studies

UK Transportation Services is pleased to announce additional parking options for employees and student commuters near the School of Art and Visual Studies Building in the Bolivar and South Broadway areas.

UK Transportation Services Winter Break Schedule

UK Transportation Services’ Customer Service Center will be closed over winter break, from Monday, December 26, through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023. Many online services will remain available during this time, but emails to transportation-related listservs and telephone calls to the office will not be monitored during this time. The customer service center will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023.

Work on Tuesday to Impact Employee Parking Areas

Approximately 120 employee spaces will be unavailable on Tuesday, December 20, for a limited time. Contractors will be working in the vicinity of the greenhouses near the W.P. Garrigus building, and in the Ag Science South Lot.    Approximately 60 spaces along the one-way greenhouse loop -- which includes several ADA spaces -- will be blocked Monday evening and will be unavailable on Tuesday. An equal number of employee intermediate and ADA spaces in the Ag Science South Lot will be unavailable on Tuesday.  

Winter Break Changes to Parking, Transportation

Campus parking and transportation will change considerably over the upcoming Winter Break. This year, winter academic break begins on Saturday, December 17, and runs through Sunday, January 8, 2023. Keep Your Wheels Under Cover Over Winter Break

UK Transportation Services is offering free, covered storage over winter break for cars and bicycles on a first-come, first-served basis. Students with a valid UK parking permit who wish to move their vehicles to Cornerstone Garage (PS #5) -- a covered parking structure – over winter break should stop by our office to pick up a free holiday parking pass.  

Sign Up Now for Winter Break Airport Shuttle Service

The end of the fall semester is just a couple of weeks away! If you plan to travel home by air over the break, take advantage of UK Transportation Services’ free regional airport shuttles. Students, staff, and faculty can ride to and from Kroger Field to Blue Grass Airport (LEX), Louisville International Airport (SDF), and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). This service is offered in partnership with the Student Transportation Council.

KHSAA Football Championship Games Start Friday

The Kentucky high school state football championship games will take place starting Friday, December 2, and Saturday, December 3, at Kroger Field. The games are not expected to have a significant impact on campus parking, as most students and employees will be on-site before football fans begin to arrive. However, campus bus service schedules will likely be impacted by the increase in traffic on Friday and Saturday. The games will start at noon, 4 p.m., and 8 p.m. both days.
