Campus Projects to Impact Travel Starting July 10

Several campus projects scheduled to start on Monday, July 10, will temporarily impact motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and bus service. Please see below for additional details about how this work could affect your commute: Avenue of Champions Renovation of Memorial Coliseum is now underway and will require that a section of Avenue of Champions be temporarily closed in front of the building, between Lexington Avenue and Rose Street.

2023-2024 Commuter Parking Permit Sales

Commuter (C) permit sales for students who had a commuter permit during the 2022-2023 academic year will start on Friday, July 7. This pre-sale window for returning commuter students will continue through Monday, July 17.   Commuter permit sales for new students who have 60 or more credit hours and live more than one mile from campus will start at noon on Wednesday, July 19, and continue until permits are sold out. Commuter permits cost $336 per academic year and are only available for purchase for a full academic year.

2023-2024 Student Residential Parking Permit Sales

2023-2024 student residential (R) parking permits will go on sale starting Thursday, July 6, for returning UK students with a 2023-2024 campus housing assignment. This priority pre-sale window is available on a first-come, first-served basis through Monday, July 17.

Employee Parking Permit Update & Reminder

2023-2024 employee intermediate (E) and employee periphery (EK) parking permits must be displayed when parking on campus starting Monday, July 3. If you haven't already purchased your permit, please do so at your earliest convenience. If you have already purchased a permit, but haven't yet picked it up, please do so prior to parking on campus next week.

Big Blue Cycles & Semester Bike Lottery Applications Now Open

Bicycles are a great way to navigate the University of Kentucky’s campus. UK Transportation Services has two exciting options for you if you don’t own a bike or if you can’t bring yours to campus this fall. First is our Big Blue Cycles program. Big Blue Cycles is a fleet of more than 150 bicycles available exclusively to students who live in campus housing, and sign a one-year car-free commitment. Students selected for this program will have the bicycle for the entire academic year.

Press Avenue Garage Maintenance Work Starts Monday, June 5

Up to 30 parking spaces in Press Avenue Garage (PS #6) will be unavailable starting as early as Monday, June 5. Maintenance work in the structure is expected to impact approximately 20 to 30 spaces at a time throughout the remainder of the month. The location of unavailable spaces will change as maintenance work progresses throughout the structure. In addition, a Fire School event will impact an additional 28 spaces, but only on Friday, June 9. These spaces are located on the third and fourth floors in the northwest corner of the garage.

HAWK Signal to be Installed on South Limestone

The City of Lexington is upgrading the crossing signal on South Limestone at Pine Street to a High-Intensity Activated crosswalk (HAWK) system. David Filiatreau, Traffic Engineering Manager, said the HAWK system is expected to be activated on Thursday, June 1.  The High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk system is a traffic control device that helps pedestrians safely cross roadways at midblock crossings and intersections without a traffic light.   

Events to Impact Campus Parking & Traffic Starting Thursday

Several events on and near campus this week will impact traffic and parking as early as Thursday, June 1. Most of the parking impacts will be on south campus, however, traffic will be heavier than usual throughout the area.   Events include: 

Employee Parking Permit Sales Start May 24

Employee intermediate (E) and periphery (EK) parking permit renewals for 2023-2024 will be available for purchase starting Wednesday, May 24. Employees can log into their customer account to make the purchase or visit our customer service center in person. UK Transportation Services is located at 721 Press Avenue, on the first floor of Press Avenue Garage.

Parking in the Orange Lot to be Impacted

Approximately 350 spaces in the Orange Lot will be unavailable this Friday evening through late Tuesday afternoon, May 23. The parking spaces are located in the northeast section of the lot, close to E.S. Goodbarn. This area is being reserved for a groundbreaking ceremony for UK’s new USDA research lab. Impacted EK permit holders may also park in the Kroger Field Red and Blue lots.
