Events to Impact Campus Parking & Traffic Starting Thursday

Several events on and near campus this week will impact traffic and parking as early as Thursday, June 1. Most of the parking impacts will be on south campus, however, traffic will be heavier than usual throughout the area.   Events include: 

Employee Parking Permit Sales Start May 24

Employee intermediate (E) and periphery (EK) parking permit renewals for 2023-2024 will be available for purchase starting Wednesday, May 24. Employees can log into their customer account to make the purchase or visit our customer service center in person. UK Transportation Services is located at 721 Press Avenue, on the first floor of Press Avenue Garage.

Parking in the Orange Lot to be Impacted

Approximately 350 spaces in the Orange Lot will be unavailable this Friday evening through late Tuesday afternoon, May 23. The parking spaces are located in the northeast section of the lot, close to E.S. Goodbarn. This area is being reserved for a groundbreaking ceremony for UK’s new USDA research lab. Impacted EK permit holders may also park in the Kroger Field Red and Blue lots.

During the summer months, UK Transportation Services implements several changes to campus transit and parking operations due to the reduced campus population.

Summer Parking Permits on Sale May 1

Summer parking permits will go on sale for students beginning on Monday, May 1. The permits cost $10.50 per week and can be purchased for any number of weeks.

Please see below for details about parking-related modifications and transit changes, for the period beginning Monday, May 8, through Friday, August 11.

Summer Parking Permits go on Sale May 1

Summer parking permits will go on sale for students beginning on Monday, May 1. The permits cost $10.50 per week and can be purchased for any number of weeks. Summer permits are not available online, but may be purchased at our customer service center, located at 721 Press Avenue, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They are also available for sale by phone at 859-257-5757.

Portion of Hospital Drive to Close Temporarily Starting Monday

A portion of Hospital Drive located between University and Veterans drives is expected to close temporarily starting mid-morning on Monday, April 24, for approximately 12 weeks. The one-block section will reopen by July 14, weather permitting. This project represents the fourth phase of construction work to improve and rehabilitate Cooling Plant #1. 

Considering Going Car-Free on Campus?

If you’ve been considering going car-free on campus, check out UK Transportation Services’ incentives programs. Applications for Bike Vouchers, Commute Club, and the Cash Out program will open on Wednesday, April 19. These programs reward students and employees for going car-free. One of them may be right for you!

2023 Donations for Citations Drive Breaks Record!

This year’s Donations for Citations drive was the largest ever, netting more than two tons of food and personal care items for UK’s Big Blue Pantry. UK students and employees donated more than 4,358 pounds of staples, topping last year’s amount by more than 1,300 pounds. In all, 452 people took part in this year’s food drive. This is the eighth year for the Donations for Citations program, which helps stock Big Blue Pantry’s (BBP) shelves. Since its inception in 2016, nearly 21,500 pounds of food have been collected and delivered to the Pantry.
