All Aboard! A Quick Primer for Using Campus Buses

Are you new to public transportation? Many first-time students have limited experience riding public transportation, but the process of using UK’s campus bus system couldn’t be easier. The University of Kentucky, in partnership with the Lexington Transit Authority (Lextran), operates several campus bus routes designed to make it easy for students, staff, faculty and visitors to quickly access the entire campus. College Way Traffic & Parking Impacts Start Monday

Beginning Monday, August 23, College Way will temporarily shift to one-way northbound traffic from Alumni Drive to the Sports Center Drive three-way stop at the Green Lot entry. The College Way East Lot will host community COVID-19 testing, as it relocates from its current location at the Kroger Field Blue Lot. Testing will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, with the exception of home football game days.

UK will welcome students back to campus next week, with official move-in days set for Monday, August 16, through Wednesday, August 18. Student Parking Options & Information

Are you new to UK’s campus? Whether you’re a first-year college student or a transfer student, UK Transportation Services would like to make your first few weeks of parking as seamless as possible. Below are a few quick tips:

Campus Ruckus to Impact Kroger Field & Nearby Parking Areas

Fireworks are being planned for Campus Ruckus 2021, an annual back-to-school bash. To make room for the show, 165 spaces in the Kroger Field Periphery (K) Blue Lot will be reserved beginning on Friday, August 13. This 200 x 200 square foot area is located in the middle section of the Blue Lot, adjacent to Alumni Drive, and will serve as the staging spot for the fireworks show.

Parking Control Information Update

Summer parking control on campus ends on Friday, August 13, which means that summer parking permits will not be valid after that date. Beginning Saturday, August 14, and extending through Sunday, August 22, the Kroger Field Periphery (K) lots, R19 lots, and Remote (X) lots will not be controlled for parking permits. These lots are temporarily off control for this two-week period to assist with student move-in. They return to regular parking control on the first day of classes, Monday, August 23.

Parking Citation Fine Increase & Courtesy Void Program Expansion

Beginning July 1, campus parking citation fines will increase for the first time since 2006, with the most common violations increasing from $25 to $30 per occurrence. At the same time, UK Transportation Services is also expanding its courtesy void policy for UK parking permit holders to allow for two courtesy voids per fiscal year rather than one.

Periphery, Remote & Off-Peak Permit Sales Start Thursday, July 8

Student periphery (K), remote (X) and off-peak (O) parking permits will go on sale beginning at noon on Thursday, July 8.

Special Saturday Office Hours this Week
