Navigating UK's Campus Bus System: A Quick Primer

Riding a campus bus for the first time can cause anxiety for some first-time students who have limited experience riding public transportation. But the process of using UK’s campus bus system couldn’t be easier. The University of Kentucky, in partnership with the Lexington Transit Authority (Lextran), operates several campus bus routes designed to make it easy for students, staff, faculty, and visitors to quickly access the entire campus. Campus bus routes are denoted on the bus marquee, so there’s no confusion as to which bus you’re boarding.

Our department offers free commute planning services designed to help you make the most convenient and accessible commuting choices. These personalized plans are tailored to your situation, whether you drive a personal vehicle, rideshare with others, take the bus, bike, or walk.

Parking Control Information Update

Summer parking control on campus ends on Friday, August 12, which means that summer parking permits will not be valid after that date. Beginning Saturday, August 13, and extending through Sunday, August 21, the Kroger Field Periphery (K) lots, R19 lots, and Remote (X) lots will not be controlled for parking permits. These lots are temporarily taken off control during this time to assist with student move-in. These lots will return to regular parking control on the first day of classes, Monday, August 22.
